After returning from an inspiring three days at The Gathering, the TACK10 team has been fortunate enough to be able to continue hearing and sharing knowledge on partnerships, strategy and the impact to the bottom line of businesses at more incredible events. Today, TACK10 EVP and Partner Laura Richard spent lunch with the Economic Club of Canada, engaging with Bell Media and BCE Group President Wade Oosterman who discussed the future of Canadian media.
The following have made the cut for our TACK10 Tuesday Top 4 Upcoming Events in Toronto – some of which may see with the TACK10 team in attendance.
1. SMCC Canada Breakfast Forum – March 1, 2017
Held monthly, the Sponsorship Marketing Council of Canada (SMCC) Breakfast Forum features marketing leaders from various industries in a panel discussion, taking place over – you guessed it – breakfast. This month’s breakfast is centered around You Can Play, the foundation that advocates for LGBTQ+ athletes and ensures team members from all levels of sport are judged on talent and commitment rather than sexual orientation.
You Can Play is bringing Vice President of Development and Operations Jillian Svensson to the SMCC Breakfast table to discuss the influence You Can Play has had and continues to have on the Canadian sports sponsorship landscape. Svensson will be joined by CFL Commissioner Jeffrey Orridge, Canadian Olympic Committee CEO Christopher Overholt, and NHLPA Director of Communications Jonathan Weatherdon. Matt Logue of S&E Sponsorship Group will moderate the discussion.
2. AMA Toronto Marketing Hall of Legends Gala – March 3, 2017
Now in its 12th year, the American Marketing Association (AMA) Marketing Hall of Legends Gala, taking place in Toronto at the Arcadian Court, is one of the most exclusive events celebrating Canada’s top marketing successes. This year’s Gala honours Zenbanx Founder and CEO Arkadi Kuhlmann (deemed “The Visionary”), John St. President and Co-Founder Arthur Fleischmann (“The Enabler”), Former President of both The Bay and LCBO Bob Peter (“The Builder”), and Former CEO of both Maple Leaf Sports and the Toronto Raptors Dr. Richard Peddie (“The Mentor”). These four marketing legends have been chosen for the impact they have made in Canada through their work, and will be the guests of honour at this event.
3. Dx3 – March 8-9, 2017
Dx3 is Canada’s leading technology, digital, marketing and retail event that showcases 50 speakers and 100 exhibitors, each fluent in innovation. This two-day conference/trade show aims to bring consumers and industry leaders in contact with the technology that is changing and shaping behaviours. Dx3 Labs allow guests to not only learn about innovative AI, VR, and fintech solutions, but to engage with and trial them in person. This hands-on level of engagement is what draws us to Dx3 and places the event on our Top 4 radar. Consumers are constantly asking for more interaction with innovation that creates value in their lives, and Dx3 provides just that.
4. SMCC Sponsorship Marketing Awards – April 19, 2017
Another upcoming SMCC event to look forward to is the Sponsorship Marketing Awards, which this year has the theme of Disruption – something the team at TACK10 seeks to foster and support in an industry that needs to evolve to optimize the value delivered to all stakeholders. The SMCC Sponsorship Marketing Awards is a four-part event made up of educational seminars and workshops, networking at an informal dinner, the awards presentation, and an after party. Award categories include Best New Innovation, Best New Initiative, Media, Arts & Culture, Events/Festivals, Cause, Sports, Sustained Success, and new for this year; Property of the Year, Agency of the Year, and Hall of Fame.
